Victory brings hate, because the defeated man is unhappy.
He who surrenders victory and defeat, this man finds joy.

And to those in the Lowest Bidder Category:

"Its unwise to pay too much, but its worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - thats all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run. And if you do that, you will have enough to pay for something better."

John Ruskin (1819 - 1900)

This I believe to be true on running the risk of choosing the lowest contractor for a project or how we assign our fiscal military budget.

"The peoples' money," they like to call it. "The people should get to keep more of their own money," they say.

Right. Except the money they steal and give to their friends.
