Your best bet is to go to http://support.discreet.com/webboard/wbpx.dll/~3dsmax , there are plenty of people there that will be able to help you.

To me it sounds like you need to do a full re-install

Hello nano,
try this,
Installation info:

1. Run setup.exe(and click 1st icon from the top) and select custom install
and make sure these are unchecked:

3ds max -->documentation
3ds max -->samples
3ds max -->tutorials
3ds max -->sdk should already be unchecked by default

2. Install the autodesk license manager tools and documentation from setup.exe (6th icon).
2. Go to programs -> Discreet -> 3ds max 5 -> License configuration switcher.
3. Choose Network and click OK. Now Flexlm License mode is set.
4. Copy licpath.lic(from crack dir) to c:\Program Files\Autodesk License Manager\License
5. When you first running 3dsmax it will ask for the license, click on specify license
and point to the c:\Program Files\Autodesk License Manager\License
6. Because of the nature of this rip, some pdfs and such werent installed while they were left
in cabs for your use, so if you want open the 3dsmaxSetup2.cab and 3dsmaxSetup7.cab (just
double click in winrar and it will open then click on the size buttom(til it showsbiggest files
on top) and manually extact the pdf file for reactor and some *chm (compiled html) files for
3dsmax/cs and max script, also there are some samples(smaller ones) which you can extract if
you wanna play around
