The Earth & Ancient Cultures

Today there is more evidence pointing towards an advanced ancient civilization on the earth in Ages past. This civilization maintained knowledge of many mysteries, and many believe they have left us many messages of this knowledge. Some see it in the area called Cydonia, others seek for these messages in the ocean. Others look for the same messages in ancient art or even in appearances of faces or animal forms in most unlikely places. Much information tell us these ancient civilizations had quite a grasp of physics and the mysteries of our Solar System as well. This ancient civilization apparently made much effort to pass this knowledge on to future generations, in the form of encoded messages, or in ancient structures such as the megaliths. We all know these were far too large and demonstrate an advance knowledge of construction not known by any methods available to humanity at the time. Many have sought to explore the energetic functions and relationships of these monuments.

A few examples of these ancient constructions are found under the ocean as well. A well known recent discovery off the coast of the Japanese island of Yonaguni, is an example. It appears to be a pyramid-like, artificial megalithic structure constructed long ages ago.

Another example, less well known, was found in 2001 when Paulina Zelinsky and Paul Weinzweig of Advanced Digital Communications made the announcement of their discovery of a vast submerged city of pyramids, with roads, buildings and other structures. This discovery was made off the western tip of Cuba, about a half-mile under the sea, as seen from side-scan sonar readings. Zelinsky's team was the first to get the cooperation of the Communist regime of Cuba, to be able to get advance measurements in the location.

In this site, there are interconnecting circles of rock similar to Stonehenge. They were photographed in 2001 on site by a robotic undersea probe. Found also were various stone inscriptions. Among these sketches of Meso-American type pyramids, crosses, and an uncommon written language. There are plans to continue with more observations of the area.

THE TALE OF ATLANTIS

The Western world has come to know the legend of this ancient lost civilization by means of the work of the Greek philosopher Plato in the Timaeus. There it is mentioned as the island continent of "Atlantis". The legend has lead to much speculation as to it's location and the cause of it's demise.

Much of this inference has lead to the idea that the technological advancement of this ancient world far exceeded technology today. Some of this inference has suggested that this included anti-gravity capability which allowed them to achieve interstellar travel and levitate the huge blocks needed to build the enygmatic pyramids and sacred temple structures that are found world-wide. Some have been led to conclude that their technology allowed them to extract a high amount of energy directly from the "ether" of empty space, using a variety of devices. Some have even speculated that the pyramids themselves were devices for such extraction of energy. The Greeks refered to this "aether" and it meant "shine" in Greek. The very Greek word for "pyramid" comes from the root words "Pyre" and "Amid", which signified "fire in the middle". This was considered a sacred fire, and i't mysteries and power were preserved for the few who maintained the special knowledge. Some have been lead to believe that the tapping into this energy occurred in the very core of these structures, by some type of concentrated beams of light which were energized in the core by means of mysterious crystals.

In times past, the mythology surrounding Atlantis was kept secret in the vaults of the priests of Egypt. It was Plato who apparently first received the information and publicized it in the philosophy texts of the day, causing a great controversy among the priests of the time. It was the first clue needed to unravel the great shroud of mystery surrounding this lost world.

THE ‘SACRED FIRE OF ANTIQUITY’ & THE MYSTERIES OF ATLANTIS

Based on the same information suggested by Plato, the Egyptian priests were among various groups who secretly maintained the keys of knowledge to the "Sacred Fire of Antiquity". The mystery surrounding this sacred fire reveals a world view on physics, on cosmology, on the knowledge of the secret generation of energy, and on the body of spiritual knowledge of Atlantis. It was also known as "The Tradition" and "The Mysteries". What great secrets could these mysteries hold? Did they maintain the key to understanding hyper-dimensional physics and vorticular energy flow mechanisms? Did they maintain a deep understanding of the compressed torus of energy flow? In doing this, were they able to harness it's energy?

These mysteries and secrets were kept under such tight guard that it demanded strict oaths of secrecy, and any braking of this oath represented certain death. Over time there were various ramifications of this group and these still exist today in such organizations as the Freemasonry. This group is deeply rooted in the foundation of the United States and continues to this day to maintain a huge amount of influence among the circles of the power elite. Could these groups be the same today who are guarding the secrets to these mysteries?

Fortunately we do have today some concrete information regarding these secret societies. Apparently Mr. Da Vinci himself was part of one such group and many have heard of the controversy that such tales have generated. The information on these secret groups has been made available during the 19th and 20th century. Back in 1928 a 33rd-degree Freemason scholar called Manly Palmer Hall published a book that made much effort at un-scrambling the mysteries and join them into a single large volume of information. This book is called “The Secret Teachings of All Ages: An Encyclopedic Outline of Masonic, Hermetic, Quabbalistic and Rosicrucian Symbolical Philosophy, Being an Interpretation of the Secret Teachings concealed within the Rituals, Allegories and Mysteries of all Ages.” This is the most popular of it's kind and serves well the cause of creating public hype around such ancient mysteries. However the full extent and depth of the ancient knowledge and technology may still not be known.

DIVIDED EMPIRES OF TECHNOLOGY - Atlantis, Rama, Mu/Lemuria and the Osiris Civilizations

The descriptions we get from Atlantis vary but the general picture is one of an advanced civilization that possibly co-existed with the empire being known as Rama, from India. Most researches have concluded that Atlantis was located in the Atlantic Ocean. Some believe it was a huge area which stretched from the Gulf of Mexico through the Mediterranean Sea.

Prior to Atlantis, the first civilization to have existed may have been Mu/Lemuria. Researchers believe it began 75,000 years ago within a rather large landmass. The same believe it lasted for 50,000 years.

So what destroyed this ancient civilization? Some believe earthquakes and floods, and a shift in the poles. Murr sunk into the depth of the Ocean, filling the area known as the Pacific Basin. Then came Atlantis, in the land mass which remained and survived. It is believed the same area was part of the Poseid Archipelago.

At the time of it's appearance, Atlantis was thus one of two principal advanced civilizations that co-existed on the Earth at that time. The other major empire was the Rama Empire, centered in India. We have information on this today from the Hindu "Vedas", which are among the most ancient of writings, claimed to go back some 26,000 years.. These same scripts refer to a highly advanced ancient technology which invented flying machines which were able to levitate, known as the "Vimana" as well as nuclear weapons.

http://www.finalcall.com/artman/publish/article_3420.shtml

Information from a book titled "The Incredible Science of the Ancients", the text goes on to describe information from old books which contained details on the operation and technical schematics, with information on the steering and propulsion systems as well as construction blue-prints of very ancient air-ships known in India as the "Vimanas". There were special drawings made in 1932 of the actual construction blueprints and these are found in the book as well. Apparently the Chinese also have recently discovered some of these ancient documents in Tibet and they are being translated.

Some of the reports done on these ancient texts conducted by Dr. Reyna state that these ancient documents contain actual directions for building interstellar spaceships.

From the same sources, the Ramayana, the ancient civilization of Rama was a well organized, high tech civilization that ruled over the Indian sub-continent for a period over 11,000 years. It is Mr. Childress who states also that the Rama empire, described in the Mahabharata and the Ramayana, was a contemporary of the great cultures of Atlantis and Osiris in the west. Atlantis became well known from the writings of Plato’s and ancient from Egyptian records. It is believed, again, to have existed in the mid-Atlantic region.

The Osirian Civilization

Little is known of this civilization, as well as Atlantis, but what is contained in African historical sources. This civilization existed in the Mediterranean basin and in North Africa, according to the same sources above and some archeological evidence. The Osirian civilization is generally known as pre-dynastic Egypt, and it is considered to have been flooded when Atlantis sank and the Mediterranean began to fill up with water.

The Seven Rishi Cities of the Rama Empire

From some sources, the Rama Empire of northern Indian and Pakistan developed around 15,000 b.c., thousands of years after the estimated start of Atlantis. The Rama empire developed many large sophisticated cities on or around the Indian sub-continent. Many of the remains of these cities can be found in Pakistan. Some speculate thus that the Rama Empire was the parallel to Atlantis, and was it's greatest rival. Some thus believe that the Rama Empire in some way was related to the disappearance of Atlantis. It is possible the two powers engaged in large scale warfare.

Whether these civilizations were as old or advanced as claimed cannot be known. In the end terrible wars and then further earth changes apparently destroyed these civilizations as well, leaving the same area with only isolated pockets of civilization, with the rest wiped out.

When speaking of vast undersea city ruins, it is not then surprising that vast ruins were discovered under the ocean off the coast of India near Gujarat, which apparently have been sub-merged for some 9000 years.

The Ancient Clash of the Titans - Rama Versus Atlantis

According to the Ramayana text, the Rama Empire was engaged in a series of devastating wars in which airships and high-tech weapons were used. It is supposed by Mr. Childress in his book, these wars could have been between the Rama Empire and Atlantis.

It is stated thus that some twelve thousand years ago, most of the Earth’s population was nowhere near at the level of sophistication possessed by the Atlanteans or the Ramas, and like the “clashes of civilizations” of our own era, these two giants ended up going into war with each other.

According to some sources, Atlantis had just begun a program of indoctrinating lesser-developed cultures with their knowledge when their island continent was destroyed by a combination of warfare and geological cataclysms, which completely submerged their land around 9600 BC.

The Pyramids of Egypt and the Civilization of Atlantis and Rama

Some believe that the pyramids were related to the lost civilization of Atlantis. This because Egypt isn't the only place where pyramids have been found. Under this view, the pyramids in Egypt, South America, and the idols of Easter Island are "outposts" or cities of either Atlantis or the great Rama Empire of Northern India.

Atlantis & Greek Mythology

Much of what is believed about Atlantis apparently is tied in and connected with Greek Mythology. So this may be the source of this legend.

According to Greek mythology, the [/b]Titans[/b], also known as the "elder gods", ruled the earth before being overthrown by the Olympians. The ruler of the Titans was Cronus who was de-throned by his son Zeus. Most of the Titans fought with Cronus against Zeus and were punished by being banished to Tartarus. During their rule the Titans were associated with the various planets.

And there is some apparent connection between Atlantis and the Gods of the Greeks:

http://www.sacred-texts.com/atl/ataw/ataw402.htm

ANCIENT ATLANTIS AND GREEK MYTHOLOGY

The Kings of Atlantis become the Gods of the Greeks

According to the Hindoos, Rama was a sun God. And the great festival of the sun, of the Peruvians, was called Ray-mi. And sun worship was also part of the ancient religion of Atlantis, under this view. So the ancient religion of Atlantis lead to various ramifications, including Greek mythology and found it's way also into ancient Indian texts apparently. The Greeks, thus, turned the Atlantian Kings into Gods, and the Greeks also tended to attribute divine qualities to Atlantis, in a personification of it's ultimate aspiration of the perfection of the human race on the earth, under the model of the God inspired great kingdoms of the past. Thus, under this view, the history of Atlantis is the key to understanding Greek mythology.

The Greek Olympus was Atlantis

Thus, Olympus is itself Atlantis.

Quote:
"The ocean encircled the earth with a great stream, and was a region of wonders of all kinds." (Ibid., p. 23.) It was a great island, the then civilized world. The encircling ocean "was spoken of in all the ancient legends. Okeanos lived there with his wife.

Quote:
This blessed land answers to the description of Atlantis. It was an island full of wonders. It lay spread out in the ocean "like a disk, with the mountains rising from it." (Ibid.) On the highest point of this mountain dwelt Zeus (the king), "while the mansions of the other deities were arranged upon plateaus, or in ravines lower down the mountain.

Atlas, the King of Atlantis

Quote:
Atlas was described in Greek mythology as "an enormous giant, who stood upon the western confines of the earth, and supported the heavens on his shoulders, in a region of the west where the sun continued to shine after he had set upon Greece."

Greek Tradition and the Location of Atlantis

Quote:
Greek tradition located the island in which Olympus was situated "in the far west," "in the ocean beyond Africa," "on the western boundary of the known world," "where the sun shone when it had ceased to shine on Greece," and where the mighty Atlas "held up the heavens." And Plato tells us that the land where Poseidon and Atlas ruled was Atlantis. "The Garden of the Hesperides" (another name for the dwelling-place of the gods) "was situated at the extreme limit of Africa. Atlas was said to have surrounded it on every side with high mountains." (Smith's "Sacred Annals, Patriarchal Age," p. 131.) Here were found the golden apples.

The History of These Ages

These Ages of time past apparently went through several phases:

1. The Golden Age.
2. The Silver Age.
3. The Bronze Age.
4. The Iron Age.
5. The Age of Clay, the ending kingdom... The Age of the Great Flood

The direct relationship to the vision of Daniel 2:31-35, with the exact same sequence seen in the vision of the large statue, which is crushed by a large stone. The feet, at the end represent thus the Age of the Flood, and the stone becomes a great mountain that fills the earth. The Golden Age was thus the age of the Kingdom Nabucodonsor. This represented the Golden Age. The successive ages that came after this had thus been predicted, culminating in the end of the Age of the great kingdoms of that time.

The Greeks went on to ascribe this "Golden Age" to the Age of Atlantis. Thus, the myth had begun.

In Greek mythology, it is stated as follows:

Quote:
"Men were rich then (in the Silver Age), as in the Golden Age of Chronos, and lived in plenty; but still they wanted the innocence and contentment which were the true sources of bu man happiness in the former age; and accordingly, while living in luxury and delicacy, they became overbearing in their manners to the highest degree, were never satisfied, and forgot the gods, to whom, in their confidence of prosperity and com fort, they denied the reverence they owed. . . . Then followed the Bronze Age, a period of constant quarreling and deeds of violence. Instead of cultivated lands, and a life of peaceful occupations and orderly habits, there came a day when every where might was right, and men, big and powerful as they were, became physically worn out. . . . Finally came the Iron Age, in which enfeebled mankind had to toil for bread with their hands, and, bent on gain, did their best to overreach each other. Dike, or Astræa, the goddess of justice and good faith, modesty and truth, turned her back on such scenes, and retired to Olympus, while Zeus determined to destroy the human race by a great flood. The whole of Greece lay under water, and none but Deucalion and his wife Pyrrha were saved." (Murray's "Mythology" p. 44.)

and

Quote:
It is remarkable that we find here the same succession of the Iron Age after the Bronze Age that has been revealed to scientific men by the patient examination of the relies of antiquity in Europe. And this identification of the land that was destroyed by a flood--the land of Chronos and Poseidon and Zeus--with the Bronze Age, confirms the view expressed in Chapter VIII. (page 237, ante), that the bronze implements and weapons of Europe were mainly imported from Atlantis.

And here we find that the Flood that destroyed this land of the gods was the Flood of Deucalion, and the Flood of Deucalion was the Flood of the Bible, and this, as we have shown, was "the last great Deluge of all," according to the Egyptians, which destroyed Atlantis.

In the same link:

http://www.sacred-texts.com/atl/ataw/ataw402.htm

So first the Egyptians, then the Greeks believed that the great flood had destroyed Atlantis. Atlantis was thus the last great kingdom to exist before the great mountain was to reign over the kingdoms of the earth, filling the entire earth, the Age of the sons of the kingdom.

Nearly all the Gods of the Greeks connected with Atlantis

Quote:
Nearly all the gods of Greece are connected with Atlantis. We have seen the twelve principal gods all dwelling on the mountain of Olympus, in the midst of an island in the ocean in the far west, which was subsequently destroyed by a deluge on account of the wickedness of its people. And when we turn to Plato's description of Atlantis (p. 13, ante) we find that Poseidon and Atlas dwelt upon a mountain in the midst of the island; and on this mountain were their magnificent temples and palaces, where they lived, separated by great walls from their subjects.

The article goes on to state:

"The mythology of Greece is really a history of the kings of Atlantis. The Greek heaven was Atlantis."

and

"The empire of the Titans was clearly the empire of Atlantis."

Atlantis Part of the Empire of the Titans

The Atlas Mountains is where the Atlanteans lived, part of a vast empire of the Titans which reached from Phrygia, Thrace, to a part of Greece, the island of Crete, and several other provinces reaching in to the inner parts of Spain. Added to these were Sanchoniathan, part of Syria and Diodurus adding in a part of Africa, and then the kingdoms of Mauritania. These last took in all the North-western region of Africa which was nearest to Atlantis and the Atlas mountains. It was in the days of Herodotus that the Atlantes lived among these Atlas mountains.

The Ulysses Odyssey of Homer and Atlantis

The voyages through the islands of the Phaeacians, with the city walls, harbors, cities, ships remarkably similar to the description of Atlantis, with the island of Calypso and the land of Pluto within the reach of the Atlantean kingdom. And with the invention of gun powder and ships that could engage in military battle of cannon like weapons going back to this age as well, and possibly connected into the technology of Atlantis. The Atlanteans thus colonized the coasts of far away places and introduced new arts and sciences among the places of their influence. The influence was carried to Italy and Rome, affecting thus the Roman Saturnalia, carrying this a resemblance to the Atlantean colonization. This eventually influenced the Roman "Carnaval".

In the "Iliad" Poseidon appears "as ruler of the sea, inhabiting a brilliant palace in its depths, traversing its surface in a chariot, or stirring the powerful billows until the earth shakes as they crash upon the shores. . . . He is also associated with well-watered plains and valleys." (Murray's "Mythology," p, 51.) The palace in the depths of the sea was the palace upon Olympus in Atlantis; the traversing of the sea referred to the movements of a mercantile race; the shaking of the earth was an association with earthquakes; the "well-watered plains and valleys" remind us of the great plain of Atlantis described by Plato.

The Atlantian Source of the Trojan Civilization

Poseidon, the first king of Atlantis, according to Plato, was, according to Greek mythology, a brother of Zeus, and a son of Chronos....He founded many colonies along the shores of the Mediterranean; "he helped to build the walls of Troy;" the tradition thus tracing the Trojan civilization to an Atlantean source.

The article goes on to conclude:

Quote:
Here then, in conclusion, are the proofs of our proposition that the gods of Greece had been the kings of Atlantis:

1. They were not the makers, but the rulers of the world.

2. They were human in their attributes; they loved, sinned, and fought battles, the very sites of which are given; they founded cities, and civilized the people of the shores of the Mediterranean.

3. They dwelt upon an island in the Atlantic,." in the remote west. . . . where the sun shines after it has ceased to shine on Greece."

4. Their land was destroyed in a deluge.

5. They were ruled over by Poseidon and Atlas.

6. Their empire extended to Egypt and Italy and the shores of Africa, precisely as stated by Plato.

7. They existed during the Bronze Age and at the beginning of the Iron Age.

The entire Greek mythology is the recollection, by a degenerate race, of a vast, mighty, and highly civilized empire, which in a remote past covered large parts of Europe, Asia, Africa, and America.

Thus, the mythology of Greece is connected to the Mythology surrounding Atlantis, present in various cultural traditions and ancient texts, such as the Indian texts. Various of these myths based on actual events, but with a twist or added folk stories and tales and stories of journeys, adding more mystery to the actual events which had taken place. This, to such a degree that the true nature of the history of these civilizations may never be known. But with the greatest of all mysteries yet to be revealed, that of the enduring mountain or kingdom which is the last successor after the Age of Clay, or the Age of the Great Flood. It is the Age of the unending dynasty, for which many a kingdoms have fought but ended in a cataclysm of wars, famine and destruction. It is in essence the long sought after Holy Grail of History, the great Mystery of the Ages which can be fully understood once one grasps the greater intent of the original source and fulfillment in as depicted in the dream of Nebuchadnezzar, and ultimately fulfilled in the root of Jesse. It is a Kingdom that ultimately will endure over all Kingdoms, with these ancient civilizations being a mere fore - shadow of an ultimate greater never ending Kingdom to reign over the kings of the earth. The kingdoms of Atlantis, of Greece, of Rome, and the modern kingdoms and nations of today are but temporary ending pre-cursors to the ultimate royal lineage to carry the flame of an "Olympus" - a hero type figure to carry the ultimate fulfillment of the dream of the ages long past.

I am sure you allow intellectual questions on your great work here, thank you.

And believe me, I ask the questions because I do not know the answers, but only fully appreciate the enigmas that surround the whole Atlantean discussion, which is raging all around us.

1. What is the era of Osiris? What millenium?

2. What is the era of the Titans? What millenium? Or does anyone know?

3. How do you define the Olympian culture, which followed the Titans?

4. When do you date the beginning of the Greek culture?

5. Who were the Greeks? How many tribes comprised the Greeks?

6. Were Mycenaens Greeks? Were Cretans part of what we call the Greek culture, or separated?

7. Were the Danaans part of the Greek culture?

8. And the 64 million dollar question, what does the A-T prefix stand for?

Please consider these loaded, intellectual trick questions. Can I expect ANY single human being to have any one good answer? Absolutely not, as these are very subjective, undefined questions, but maybe I am wrong.

I absolutely agree with your information that the Greeks (at least Athenians) were part of the Atlantean culture, but they also were comprised of something like 100 to 200 other cultures, from as far afield as West Africa to the Middle East, and then to the British Isles with their maritime travels. That much we seem to know of, and have definitive proof of.

But major discrepancies seem to be in the timetable of events... the Greeks as a single cultural entity did not exist until what century? Much more modern than 9600 BC, right?

If you are uncomfortable in these questions, I can understand, and will not pursue it.

Good work.

It will be difficult to address all these questions in one shot, if anyone can. However, as a starter, on the Beginning of the Greek culture:

With the Greek civilization intimately tied in to the Mycenaen civilization, and the demise of the Bronze Age in 1100 B.C., if we follow the chart above before mentioned, we have:

Quote:
The History of These Ages

These Ages of time past apparently went through several phases:

1. The Golden Age.
2. The Silver Age.
3. The Bronze Age.
4. The Iron Age.
5. The Age of Clay, the ending kingdom... The Age of the Great Flood

So if the Mycenaen civilization, the pre-cursor to the Greeks ended with the Bronze Age in 1100 B.C, and the Age of the Flood came after this, what does this tell us? Either the Age of Clay is not the Age of the Flood and Greek mythology got it wrong. Or, that the Great Flood actually occurred much more recently then archeologists will tell us. Yet research tell us it might have been 5000 BC to 2350 BC, or even much longer ago.

http://www.noahsarksearch.com/faq.htm

So then the facts do not add up.

Yet the connection between Ancient Atlantis and Greece was not a direct co-existent relationship, but one carried on by the ancient mysteries that surround Atlantis, through various civilizations culminating in Greece, which attempted to find the ultimate perfection of Ages past in the the perfect human form of man. Greece thus sough to synthesize the culture of Atlantis and of past civilizations and in so doing, create a new type of Atlantis as the archetype of this ultimate perfection.

The fact is, undeniably, Atlantis is with us even to this day in many forms:

The Atlantis Effect

Atlantean / Egyptian/ Greek Effect on World Names

Places from where the Atlantean legend spread may have been sites for the twelve original city-states. In America, North Africa, Mexico, Europe, Scandanavia and India there are names for the fabled land—and they all beginning with the letters "At-."

Many a names in the US come from Ancient "Atlantian Mythology"

Golden Gate Bridge

The first true (and largest) Atlantean city-state was called The City of the Golden Gate.

Houston

One of other twelve cities of Atlantis was called "Hoshan".

And many of the names start with "Atl"

Atlanta Georgia

Atlantic City and many many others..... a huge list....

Atlas, the first king of Atlantis, is also the name of the majestic range of mountains that rise above Morocco. Across the Atlantic on the Yucatan Peninsula, the Maia take their name from the first born daughter of Atlas - King of Atlantis.

Quote:
In Europe, Cadiz in Spain derives from the name Gadirus, described by Plato as a governor of "the furthest part of the island towards the pillars of Heracles." Even the name of the Spanish region of Catalonia hides probable Atlantean connections. If we remove the letter C from Catalonia, we get ATALONIA!!! The resemblance between this, and Atlantis is striking.

Nuclear wars in space and deepest antiquity?

http://www.space-2001.net/Links_/Nuclear/nuclear.html

Quote:
There is a feeling amongst some scientists that a highly deadly form of star wars may be taking place between alien civilisations far out in space. Fodder for these theories comes from unexplained explosions witnessed by numerous astronomers.

Deep space explosions

Five or six years ago an article in the Herald Tribune it said there had been at least 80 unexplained explosions in deep space during the last decade alone! This had baffled many of the leading scientists and astronomers who were at a complete loss to explain the phenomenon! According to the article the largest of these explosions had occurred "180,000 light years away in the large Magellanic Cloud outside our galaxy"!

The article also related that "Ray Klebesadel, a leading scientist at Los Alamos, said this event was definitely not a supernova!" According to him the explosion was more like a nuclear bomb blast! This was a view also echoed by a nuclear physicist Stanton T. Friedmann who declared: "Tremendous activity of this sort could well be life out there involved in a war"! Another quote is from James Oberg of Houston who is on record as saying: " It is a legitimate theory that star wars may be taking place!"

Terrestrial Evidence for Nuclear Wars in Antiquity

From the ancient texts mentioned:

Quote:
"An incandescent column of smoke and fire, as brilliant as ten thousand suns rose in all its splendour. It was the unknown weapon, the iron thunderbolt, .....a gigantic messenger of death!" The effect of this weapon was that, "The corpses were so burnt that they were no longer recognisable. Hair and nails fell out. Pottery broke without cause. Birds, disturbed, circled in the air and were turned white. Foodstuffs were poisoned!"

Quote:
a single projectile charged with all the power of the universe!"

Atlantis Destroyed by a Nuclear Holocaust?

Charred ruins in Antiquity Indicate Nuclear Power Existed long ago:

Quote:
the vitrified remains of fortresses, ziggurats, and towers that have been subjected to an unaccountably sharp blast of heat. In his book Secrets of the Lost Races writer Rene Noorbergen talks of charred ruins to be found between the River Ganges in India and the mountains of Rajamahal. "The walls have been glazed, corroded, and split by tremendous heat. Within several of the buildings that remain standing even the surfaces of the stone furniture have been vitrified: melted then crystallised. No natural burning flame or volcanic eruption could have produced heat intense enough to cause this phenomenon. Only the heat released through atomic energy could have done this damage"! Also in this same region a human body was discovered with a radioactivity "which was fifty times above the normal level".

World-wide evidence of ancient nuclear activity:

In North America, South America,

Quote:
In South America the Brazilian ruins of Sete Ciddaes are enormously revealing. Author Noorbergen writes of "ruins melted by apocalyptic energies..."! Elsewhere, in Mesopotamia sizeable ziggurats - a form of early pyramid - have been found melted to their base in a vitrified mass!

In the Arabian desert blackened stones litter the sands over a wide area, showing signs of having been subjected to intense radiation. In Israel the location of the Dead Sea and it's mysterious connection with Sodom and Gomorrah bears evidence of an amazing focus of heat that is thought to have gouged out the entire area in a massive explosion. Vitrified rock created under intense pressure is a frequent discovery, and in 1952 archaeologists discovered a vitrified area of sand that stretched out over hundreds of square feet! Apparently deposits like this are similar to those left behind at the White Sands atomic testing site in America!

In fact wherever we look in the world the baffling enigma of vitrified ruins challenges our intellect! From Peru, to Scotland and Scandinavia; to the plateau's of China and India, this indelible evidence attests to some undeniably violent act! Not everyone will be convinced of a nuclear answer but as we have seen the evidence is extremely compelling. Intriguingly a number of established scientists also find themselves seduced by the evidence.

The source of our material on Atlantis goes back to Egypt.

http://www.space-2001.net/Atlantis/atlantis.html

According to the ancient record of Plato, at the time of the Egyptian civilization, the demise of Atlantis had occurred over 9000 years prior to that date.

So Atantis vanished over 12,000 years ago.

Quote:
At that time humanity was thought to have barely risen above the status of hunter gatherers. Yet the Timaeus and Critias insists on the existence of a highly developed world at that time.

And Atlantis does not seem to fit the scientifically know facts of Continental drift. If it existed between America and Europe, what would explain the perfect fit between South America and Africa, as if they had once been connected? However, Continental drift is in fact an un-exact science.

The crux of the mystery begins with the Gulf of Mexico.

Atlantis broke off Mexico?

Quote:
Subduction zones and tear lines bear testimony to a turbulent parting of a substantial landmass. Yet incredibly this landmass is nowhere explained by anything we see in the world today. In other words there is no portion of land that can be identified as having separated from this location. In some respects this is only to be expected. Atlantis no longer exists. There is nothing left to see. All we have is the unmistakable impression of some massive tear around the rim of the Mexican Gulf.

A Geographical map of the outline of Atlantis:

http://www.space-2001.net/Atlantis/Atlanmap/atlanmap.html

And we have the The European Eel Enigma.

and the Sargasso Sea enigma:

Quote:
The Sargasso Sea is itself a huge enigma. Comprising of a vast body of oceanic algae, it teems with small fish, crabs, prawns, and molluscs. Even more remarkable is that very few of these creatures are natural inhabitants of the open sea. It is almost as if a massive landmass submerged at this point leaving a floating platform of debris that is constantly being added to.

Atlantis consumed by a massive Volcano? Atlantis sunk on it's base? So it became a sinking Island...

The Destruction of Atlantis caused by the Great Flood? Atlantis sunk as part of a wider catastrophe?

And on Question #1

1. What is the era of Osiris? What millenium?

Osiris along with his lunar wife Isis became one of the most popular gods of the human race, worshiped in one way or another for a period of a millennium.

2. What is the era of the Titans? What millenium? Or does anyone know?

Much myth surrounds this subject, but some info can be found here:

http://www.wowwiki.com/Titans

3. How do you define the Olympian culture, which followed the Titans?

The Olympian culture also was based on the same Greek mythology, so is up to debate.

This Marvin site, however related to comics, contains some basic info on the Olympic Gods and the Titans

Question #4 addressed somewhat previously.

The other questions someone can address as they are many.

The A-T prefix has been shown also to exist in the names of many cities, as noted previously.

Ancient Knowledge Passed on to the Greeks - Celestial battles?

Did the Greeks maintain some special knowledge gained from ancient cultures regarding the celestial battles and their significance to the cosmos, to the layout of the stars and the future? As mentioned previously,

The Titans and Olympians at war may actually be occurring in space.

http://www.space-2001.net/Links_/Nuclear/nuclear.html

And Armageddon as well? Could the events surrounding Armageddon maintain celestial connections? Will the epic fall of the stars to the earth be the culmination of a celestial battle taking place in the remote corners of the universe?

Venus, Mars and the moon once inhabited by advanced societies? Their demise was due to the clash between the Titans and the Olympians? This lead to a solar system in chaos, with the destruction of a planet, (where Cydonia on Mars Face once pointed to) and the orbital change of Venus?

This all was mentioned in the previous post as well.

And the most intriguing of all:

The space type information is interesting, but the earth level evidence is 1000% of all my research. The human mind is extraordinary, and we don't know what and how much the ancients were capable of.

Having said that first of all, the net net of all we are mentioning is that we are all making educated guesses, and we have everything to learn. Thanks again for your input. Who in the world knows anything for sure?

With those early questions giving me good answers, let me ask some more questions...

1. What was the alleged unique architecture of Atlantis, according to the Plato dialogue?

Clue one: Main Center Temple at Tenochtitlan, Valley of Mexico. "Atzacoalco", aka "Asar Sah"? At-sar-sah, Aat of Caesar?

2. Are you familiar with the Egyptian terms... Aat, and Aut? as in Aa-t-lan, and ??Ah-ee-tah-lee?

Island in center of Lake Texcaca... (Davalos Aparicio map)

3. What were the dimensions length and width of the concentric circle city of Atlantis?

This is the trick portion, you can see where this is going... If the Greek culture was originated in 1100 BC or so, would the Atlantean names be the same in 9600 BC, 8500 years earlier?

4. Did the Greek Titan Atlas or some other form of him exist in 9600 BC?

Names of Osiris
http://www.touregypt.net/osirnam.htm

Osiris, Water God
http://www.touregypt.net/osirform.htm

We find plausible answers, and overturn more questions, but maybe, just maybe, you ARE the one! Keep writing, we are on to something!!!

I am not sure what your questions are getting at, but it made me think and we are now making progress. I have come to a surprising new conclusion:

Based on Greek mythology, with the great flood coming in at the Age of Clay, the ending kingdom, The Age of the Great Flood - one can conclude that this flood was not Noah's flood, but the flood which wiped out the Islands of Crete and surrounding areas, as records show us.

Atlantis on the Island of Thera in Greece

http://www.atlantia.de/atlantis_english/myth/atlantis/atlantis_thera_crete.htm

This would explain the intimate connection of Greek Mythology to Atlantis, as pointed out earlier. Thus, Atlantis is actually the destroyed Island of Thera, and Greek mythology, with a stretch of the imagination, implied that it was a world empire of great size.

There was possibly and most likely a mis-translation of the dates of Atlantis, and this subject has been dealt with clearly on this web-site:

This site establishes the connection that I am making also, and all this would explain the apparent inconsistency of a flood coming in at the Age of Clay:

http://www.unmuseum.org/atlantis.htm

Atlantis Possibly and Most Likely the Island of Crete

The Minoan Connection

Frost suggested that instead of being west of the Pillars of Hercules, Atlantis was east. He also thought that the catastrophic end of the island had come not 9000 years before Plato's time, but only 900. If this was true, the land of Atlantis might already be a well-known place even in Plato's time: the island of Crete.

Crete is now a part of modern Greece and lies just south of Athens across part of the Mediterranean Sea. Before 1500 B.C. it was the seat of the Minoan Empire. The Minoans dominated the eastern Mediterranean with a powerful navy and probably extracted tribute from other surrounding nations. Archaeological excavations have shown that Minoan Crete was probably one of the most sophisticated cultures of its time. It had splendid architecture and art. A code of laws gave women equal legal status to men. Agriculture was highly developed and an extensive irrigation system existed.

Then, seemingly in a blink of an eye, the Minoan Civilization disappeared. Geological studies have shown that on an island we now know as Santorinas, located just ten miles to the north of Crete, a disaster occurred that was very capable of toppling the Minoan state.

Santorinas today is a lush Mediterranean paradise consisting of several islands in a ring shape. Twenty-five hundred years ago, though, it was a single large island with a volcano in the center. The volcano blew itself apart in a massive explosion around 1500 B.C.

To understand the effect of such an explosion, scientists have compared it with the most powerful volcanic explosion in historic times. This occurred on the Island of Krakatoa in 1883. There a giant wave, or tsunami, 120 feet high raced across the sea and hit neighboring islands, killing 36,000 people. Ash thrown up into the air blackened the skies for three days. The sound of the explosion was heard as far away as 3,000 miles.

The explosion at Santorinas was four times as powerful as Krakatoa.

The tsunami that hit Crete must have traveled inland for over half a mile, destroying any coastal towns or cities. The great Minoan fleet of ships were all sunk in a few seconds. Overnight the powerful Minoan Empire was crushed and Crete changed to a political backwater. One can hardly imagine a catastrophe more like Plato's description of Atlantis' fate than the destruction of Crete.

Many of the details of the Atlantis story fit with what is now known about Crete. Women had a relatively high political status, both cultures were peaceful, and both enjoyed the unusual sport of ritualistic bullfighting (where an unarmed man wrestled and jumped over a bull).

If the fall of the Minoans is the story of Atlantis, how did Plato get the location and time wrong? Galanopoulos suggested there was a mistake during translation of some of the figures from Egyptian to Greek and an extra zero added. This would mean 900 years ago became 9000, and the distance from Egypt to "Atlantis" went from 250 miles to 2,500. If this is true, Plato (knowing the layout of the Mediterranean Sea) would have been forced to assume the location of the island continent to be squarely in the Atlantic Ocean.

Not everyone accepts the Minoan Crete theory of the story of Atlantis, but until a convincing case can be made for some other place, it, perhaps, remains science's best guess. [/quote]

This mis-interpretation of the dates also lead to the confusion and belief that Atlantis goes back eight or 12 thousand years, when 900 was incorrectly translated into Greek as 9000. This error lead Plato to conclude Atlantis was out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, when actually it was right there only 250 miles from Greece. This would explain also the intimate connection between Greek mythology and the mythology surrounding Atlantis. And it explains beautifully why the Atlantis names and traditions could have been so beautifully passed on the many countries and locations in recent history. If it had existed 12,000 years ago, it would not have this influence on recent history that it does. So the connection has been established, and the mystery surrounding Atlantis has been explained.

Atlantis sits right in the back door of Greece. It is part of her history and the Titans and Gods of ancient times are not descendant from some remote time 12,000 years ago in Atlantis, but from the very heart and sould of Greece and Greek Mythology.

Further, it is not feasible to believe that if Atlantis was a huge continent, that it could sink to the ocean in 24 hours! But if `the Minoan Crete had built the City of Atlantis around a mountain, this mountain was in the center of the city. It was this mountain that exploded, as it was a volcano, and lead to the demise of Atlantis. Thus, in Greek mythology, Olympus, the hill of the 12 Gods, could have been located dead center in the city of Atlantis, and the same exploded, destroying the Kingdom of Clay. Now, only a ring of concentric islands remains, the fragments of the concentric layout of Atlantis.

Many other tales of Atlantis, including those of Indian origin and others, are thus no more then fairy tales, under this view. The stories and mis-understandings of Plato had found their way into the traditions and myths of other countries, thus compounding the error.

All the events surrounding this Island of Crete match perfectly the events as described by Plato. They match the advanced nature of Atlantis as described by Plato. They explain why the mythology of Greece is intimately tied in and connected to the mythology and names surrounding Atlantis. This explains thus why so many US place names have either Atlantean names, or Greek names - they were one and the same!

So the entire mystery surrounding Atlantis has been un-veiled and revealed. Atlantis was not some huge continent swallowed up in a flash. It was an empire existing in the back-waters of Greece, at her door step, seat of the empire and power at the time.

Message - - Atlantis theories - Graham Hancock, Peter James and Andrew Collins.

Quote:
Posted by Verve on March 18, 2002 at 06:07:55:

This an interesting site questioning the various Atlantis theories. It also has really good picture diagrams to support the questioning.

What do you people think ?

"In 1999 Discovery Channel broadcast a three-part series called Quest for the lost Civilisation. In it Graham Hancock stated that the pyramids, Angkor Vat, Stonehenge, the stones of Carnac, the Nazca lines, temples in Mexico and the statues of Easter Island were all part of an ancient global civilisation of seafarers who were apparently obsessed by astrology. The temples of Angkor Vat (in Cambodia) were said to be built in the shape of the zodiac sign Draco, the pyramids of Gizeh in the shape of Sirius; the Sphinx is supposed to be looking at the sign of Leo. It's all rather vague. Hard to say whether it's nonsense or not. More information can be found in Hancocks books, like Fingerprints of the Gods (Heinemann) and Heaven's Mirror (Penguin Books).

Not long after this, the BBC hit back with two episodes of Horizon, in which Atlantis believers were even compared with Nazis! Part 2 was focussed on Hancocks ideas, at least on some of them. The corrosion of the sphinx was said to be caused by salt. The placing of the pyramids was determined by the building site and not by the stars, according to Kate Spence. That the temples of Angkor Vat were built in the shape of the zodiac sign Draco is also untrue, according to E. Mannikka; also there are more than 60 temples and Hancock chose only 10 out of them. Indeed it is not a convincing theory at all"

and some skeptics of Hancok rebuttal to some of his ideas here:

http://skepticwiki.org/index.php/Graham_Hancock

And the link which was posted contains some excellent information.

Various Civilizations Tied Back to Atlanta:

Quote:
The Toltecs, Nahuatlacas, and Aztecs of South America and all the races that settled Mexico traced their ancestors back to a starting point called “Aztlan” or “Atlan,” (in the Atlantic?). Aztec temples are called “Teocalli” which interestingly compares with the Greek “theos” (God) and “kalias” (house/dwelling of).

Thus, there is a connection between the Aztecs and the Greek civilization, as well.

Quote:
The native Basques of Western Europe also claim to be descendants from a continent called “Atlaintika” which sank beneath the waves. The Basque language itself shares no lingual affinities with any other European language but is very similar to native American languages. The natives of Mindanao in the Philippines are the “Atas” who have the same flood myth and claim descent from light-skinned invaders who intermarried with the aboriginals.

This could be explained as well by the Greek conquests and attempts to conquer the world and spread her culture and knowledge into other lands, as is said of Atlantis.

Quote:
“Look at it! An ‘Atlas’ mountain on the shore of Africa; an ‘Atlan’ town on the shore of America; the ‘Atlantes’ living along the north and west coast of Africa; an Aztec people from Aztlan, in Central America; an ocean rolling between the two worlds called the ‘Atlantic;’ a mythological deity called ‘Atlas’ holding the world on his shoulders; and an immemorial tradition of an island of Atlantis. Can all these things be the result of accident?” -Ignatius Donnelly, “Atlantis: The Antediluvian World”

This, all, under the previous theory, the result of the influence of the Greek Civilization in modern times.

The Name Atlas comes from Greek Mythology as well, and possibly not from a remote city of Atlantis back some supposed 20,000 years ago.

Quote:
Atlas was the son of Iapetus and the Oceanid Clymene and brother of Prometheus, Epimetheus and Menoetius. Atlas was married to the titaness Pleione who bore the seven sea deities with the name "Pleiades" ("the sailing") and special nymphs with the name "Hesperides", also known as the "Daughters of Evening".

Contrary to his brothers, Atlas sided with the Titans during their War with the Olympian Gods and acted as their leader, threatening the Olympians constantly.

However, the Olympian Gods managed to dethrone the titans and cast all titans into Tartarus, the depths of the Underworld. Only Atlas became singled out and received the harshest punishment by King Zeus: he was doomed to hold up the heavens with bare hands and bear their weight on his shoulders forever. This way, Atlas became the first to know that the earth was spherical in shape.

And continued from the same source mentioned previously:

Quote:
With the Atlantic Ocean and the Atlas Mountains in Morocco we see the theme of water and hills/mountains being equated with Atlas – this is repeated world wide. In Japan, Atago is a hill in the center of Tokyo where gods brought civilization to Japan. Atagi are the Japanese priests protecting wisdom from prehistory. In Tongo, Ata mountain and memorial are devoted to red-haired, fair-skinned gods who came long ago and blessed the natives. Italy, comes from Italia, which comes from Atalya, a word meaning “land of Atlas” Atalya is also the name of an ancient ceremonial mound in Biarritz. Across the Atlantic, the Aztecs also venerated a holy mountain by that name. Atalaia is the name of a small Quechua Indian town and Atalya was a Pre-Incan city found by archaeologists and confirmed by local history. In Guatemala where the Mayan civilization thrived, near Lake Atitlan is a stone tower called Atalaya. The mountains of Indonesian Sumatra are called Atjeh. The Guanche natives on the Canary Islands call mountains “Ataras” and their Atlas figure was named “Ater.” Tenerite (Guanch) natives call themselves Atinach, which means “people of the sky god.” Herodotus, Diodorus Siculus and other classical writers describe the “Atarantes” people who lived on the Atlantic shores of Morocco. “Atcha” is ancient Egyptian for an advanced, but sunken city. Egyptian gods or heroes were Atum, Atfih, At-hothes, and many other “At” names. Atchafalaya means “Long River” to the Choctaw Indians whose flood myth syncs. Atea is the Marquesans ancestral progenitor, like Egypt’s Atum. Atiamuri is the site of huge megalithic ruins in New Zealand, which contains At and Mu. Atiu is an extinct volcano in the Cook Islands. The Pawnee Indian’s, adept at astrology with the usual flood myth had the sky god “Atius.” Nahuatl is the Aztec’s language and almost all their gods names end in “atl.” Their Atlas character is Atlanteotl and Atlantika means “we live by the sea.” The Taureg natives of Morocco’s name for water is also Atl. The Tuaregs claim decent from the “Atlantes” ancient Moroccans written about by Herodotus, Diodorus Siculus and others. Atla was a giantess Norse god. Atlakvith (meaning Punishment of Atla) is the name of their written record of their Atlantean oral history. Atlamal is another of these myths which means “The story of Atla.” Atla is also an Otomi Indian town in Mexico. The Otomi have a ritual dance called the “Acatlaxqui” with 10 dancers to represent the 10 kings of Atlantis from the ancient ancestry. The Aztec sea-god was “Atlahua” and their great flood was “Atemoztli. Today’s Alca on the Gulf of Uraba was called Atlan before the Spanish conquest. Atlan is the name of a Venezuelan village of Paria Indians who say their home country was a prosperous island in the Atlantic inhabited by wealthy seafarers from which they escaped the flood. Autlan was home of the advanced Tarascans of Michoacan who say they were inheritors of a drowned island civilization. Atland is the Northern European name given to Atlantis as shown in the medieval Frisian manuscript, Oera Linda Bok. Atlanersa was the 5th century BC King of Nubia, whose name meant “Royal descendant of Atlan.” Atao was a Minoan god thought to be Atlas. And later in Crete, Atana was the name of a their language/dialect. Aton was the oldest sun deity in Egypt and Atonatiuh was the ancient Aztec sun god. Another name for Egypt’s Sun God was Ra like Rama of the Hindus, Rana of the Toltecs, Rayam of the Yemen, and the Raymi Peruvian Sun festival. (Frank Joseph, “The Atlantis Encyclopedia” 29-43) Is anyone prepared to accept all this etymology as coincidence? Could there really have been an advanced ancient Atlantean civilization? Could the myth of a sunken island continent be more than a myth?

There does seem to be some conclusive evidence for a pre Greek origin of the name Atlas, and a possible earlier Atlantean civilization, with all this information in mind. Could it have been spread by the Greeks who fled the destruction of the Island of Crete, or is it attributed solely to a very ancient Atlantean civilization?

Quote:

“Upon that part of the African continent nearest to the site of Atlantis we find a chain of mountains, known from the most ancient times as the Atlas Mountains. Whence this name Atlas, if it be not from the name of the great king of Atlantis? And if this be not its origin, how comes it that we find it in the most north-western corner of Africa? And how does it happen that in the time of Herodotus there dwelt near this mountain-chain a people called the 'Atlantes', probably a remnant of a colony from Solon's island? How comes it that the people of the Barbary States were known to the Greeks, Romans, and Carthaginians as the ‘Atlantes,’ this name being especially applied to the inhabitants of Fezzan and Bilma? Where did they get the name from? There is no etymology for it east of the Atlantic Ocean.” -Francios Lenormant "Ancient History of the East," (253)

It is quite possible that the populations which inhabited the Atlas mountain areas were under the influence of the Greek empire, and they were of African origin. Thus, they were called the people of the Atlantes. The name was later applied to the center of power of the Island of Creek either erroneously, or with later modifications to Greek mythology for some reason.

Greece and Atlantis Connection

Quote:
"You do not know that there formerly dwelt in your land the fairest and noblest race of men which ever lived, and that you and your whole city [Athens] are descended from a seed or remnant of them which survived. The power came forth out of the Atlantic Ocean, for in those days the Atlantic was navigable; and there was an island situated in from of the straits which are by you called the Pillars of Hercules: the island was larger than Libya and Asia put together, and was the way to other islands …Now in this island of Atlantis there was a great and wonderful empire which had rule over the whole island, and several others, and over parts of the continent, and furthermore the men of Atlantis had subjected the parts of Libya within the columns of Hercules as far as Egypt and of Europe as far as Tyrrhenia [Italy]." -Plato, “Timaeus”

Thus, the people of Athens are a remnant of those who survived from the ancient seat of power in the Island of Crete. They received their power from their exploration of the Atlantic Ocean, but it does not mean they were actually situated in the Atlantic Ocean. On the size of Atlantis and other details mentioned, one can only speculate if this information perhaps was not correct, if the origin of the myth of Atlantis actually came from the destruction of the Island of Crete. This detail on the Island being huge does not even make sense. It would have to be a continent, not an island. And continents don't sink over night from one day to the next. They could sink over a larger period of time, or with a global catastrophe, but not with localized catastrophe.

Mesopotamia Grew from the ruins of the Culture and Knowledge of Atlantis?

Quote:
“The region of Mesopotamia (Sumeria), which seems to have suddenly appeared out of nowhere (according to Academia), had a high knowledge of astronomy, architecture, a pantheon of gods, agriculture, gourmet foods, and courts. It is considered to be the cradle of civilization. Mesopotamia, in the north, encompassed the rivers Tigris and Euphrates, which flowed from the Garden of Eden, in the Genesis stories. The places known as Atlantis, Dilmun, and Lemuria are mentioned in the records of Sumeria. This is an obvious indication that these societies or cities pre-dated the Sumerian era. Therefore, the Mesopotamian civilization did not suddenly appear out of nowhere. It was more likely a relocated ancient ‘Lost Civilization’” -James Arthur, “Mushrooms and Mankind”

This information seems to cast doubt on the previous theory, if the Sumerian civilization had knowledge of the existence of Atlantis. Could it be that in Greek mythology, an ancient place called Atlantis was mixed in with local events and applied to the destroyed Greek Island?

Or could it be that Atlantis then in fact existed in much earlier ancient times, after all? Then, much of the knowledge and influence from Greece and Greek Mythology could carry with it much weight in influencing modern views of a civilization which stretched much further back in time, prior to the Sumerian civilization. If this is the case, then we are back to the ancient source and tradition view of a much older Atlantis stretching much further back in time.

On Atlantis, all the facts and information we have basically are summarized in the tales and accounts of Plato in the Timaeus and Critias.

On the size of Atlantis, there are some references such as this one:

Quote:
'At the center of the island, near the sea, was a plain, said to be the most beautiful and fertile of all plains, and near the middle of this plain about fifty stades (stadia) inland a hill of no great size... There were two rings of land and three of sea, like cartwheels, with the island at their centre and equidistant from each other... in the centre was a shrine sacred to Poseidon and Cleito, surrounded by a golden wall through which entry was forrbidden...

http://www.geocities.com/ancients_uk/atlantis/plato.htm

A Description of Atlantis

Atlantis was the domain of Poseidon, who was considered the God of the Sea. According to the story, when Poseidon fell in love with a mortal woman, Cleito, he created a dwelling at the top of a hill near the middle of the island and surrounded the dwelling with rings of water and land to protect her. Atlas, the first King of Atlantis was given control over the central hill and surrounding areas. At the top of the central hill, a temple was built to honor Poseidon which housed a giant gold statue of Poseidon riding a chariot pulled by winged horses. It was here that the rulers of Atlantis would come to discuss laws, pass judgments, and pay tribute to Poseidon.

To facilitate travel and trade, a water canal was cut through of the rings of land and water running south for 5.5 miles (~9 km) to the sea.

The city of Atlantis sat just outside the outer ring of water and spread across the plain covering a circle of 11 miles (1.7 km). This was a densely populated area where the majority of the population lived.

Beyond the city lay a fertile plain 330 miles (530 km) long and 110 miles (190 km) wide surrounded by another canal used to collect water from the rivers and streams of the mountains. The climate was such that two harvests were possible each year. One in the winter fed by the rains and one in the summer fed by irrigation from the canal.

Surrounding the plain to the north were mountains which soared to the skies. Villages, lakes, rivers, and meadows dotted the mountains.

So the middle of the plain lay 50 stadia inland (less then half a mile), with the concentric rings of land radiating out from the center. There were various islands located around the central Island. In the center was a shrine dedicated to Poseidon and Cleitto and a temple dedicated to Poseidon as well. It's size was
Quote:
a stade in length, three hundred feet wide, and proportionate in height, though somewhat outlandish in appearance.

The general architecture of the islands was one of raised aquaducts and bridges connecting the islands. On each island there were many temples and dockyards as well. Outside of the 3 outer harbors was a great wall beginning at the sea and going around in a circle. The main harbour was full of houses and all built-up, with much activity and noise and ships coming from every corner to the sea.

The splendid landscape of Atlantis is matched equally in the artistic portrayals of the Minoans, when depicting the island of Santorini:

Quote:
On the nearby island of Santorini... The first known European landscape was done. The fresco showed rolling hills and plants. This piece of art predates the Roman landscapes by 1,500 years!

The Architecture of Atlantis

Atlantis - The Minoan Connection & The Palace of Knossos - early Cretan Architecture

http://www.dilos.com/dilosimages/image/crete/knoss_04.jpg

This image depicts the architecture of the greatest palace of Minoan civilization - The Palace of Knossos. It was built in 1700 B.C. and also was destroyed by the volcanic eruption that destroyed the Island of Theros, the possible seat of power of the Atlantean civilization.

With it's elegant wall frescoes, it was more flamboyant than any of the other palaces known to us. It is a complex of multi-storied buildings. The palace of Knossos is associated with the mythological labyrinth. In Atlantis, there was said to exist a labyrinth.

The old palace civilization is the beginning of palaces in ancient Crete.

The ancient tombs, temples, cities, and buildings are all components of early Cretan architecture.

The palaces and buildings of the old palace civilization are complex they contain:

* Multiple Stories
* extensive courtyards
* patios

As L. R. Palmer states, “It was a typical Cretan palace in that it was built around a central court which was about twice as long as it was broad”The central court is surrounded by architectural blocks, which is why scholars have termed Minoan architecture as “centrifugal”. The focus of a Minoan palace is clearly the central court.

More information on the Minoan Villas, Towns and Roads architecture and layout can be found here:

http://ancient-greece.org/architecture/minoan-archi.html

Quote:
According to history, the destruction of Knossos could have been connected to the huge volcanic eruption of Santorini in 1450 BC.

http://www.greeka.com/greece-architecture.htm

Greek Architecture thus found it's embryonic form in the Minoan civilization and with a primary example being the Palace at Knossos.

Both Atlantis and Minoan civilizations tended to build their palaces on hills as well. This is a strong indication of the Minoan/Atlatis connection as well. The Mycenaean Architecture which followed tended to differ significantly, more oriented towards compact cidadels surrounded by huge walls.

The architecture of those ages past went on to influence the Greek and Roman architecture as well.

The Island of Thera Site of the Legendary Atlantis?

At the time, Atlantis was apparently situated on various ring islands. Thus, the Island of Thera was possibly where the legendary Atlantis existed, and the remaining Islands were destroyed or sund, with the Island of Crete being a primary example of a remaining island, still with Minoan architecture to be found.

A great site with much information on the possible Origins of Atlantis existing on the Island of Thera can be found here:

http://www.mystae.com/restricted/streams/thera/atlantis.html

Quote:
"If a legend, passed down for nearly a thousand years before it reached Solon, and for an additional two hundred years before Plato finally committed it to paper, can, through successive retellings, expand an island culture into a continental one and dislocate it west a thousand miles, it is easy to believe that Plato's family, or the Egyptians, or both, stretch its age as well."
- Charles Pellegrino, Unearthing Atlantis (1991) p. 45

The origin of the information of Atlantis had come from the Egyptian priests in 559 B.C. Thus, the story of the destruction of the Island of Thera became with time the legend of Atlantis. With time, the story passed on had suffered various "mutations" and changes, and thus the story of Thera became the story of Atlantis.

Keftiu = Capital or Pillar

Quote:
"Keftiu translates as wither 'the island of Keft' or 'the people of Keft', depending on which determinative is added to the Egyptian hieroglyph. The root keft has come into the twentieth century as the word 'capital'[originally of a pillar]."

The Myth of Atlantis and the Minoam Keftiu

The Egyptians maintained contacts with the ancient Keftiu, which was the Minoam Crete. Thus, the phrase, "as far away as Keftiu", became a symbol of a far away Western Land, and it became interpreted erroneously as an island West of the Pilars of Hercules, then considered the mark of a far away land. The name Keftiu itself thus most likely found it's derivation from the word pillar, which was also a symbol of Minoan civilization. Minoan Crete had the worship of the ancient Pillars. And the myth of Atlas, the Titan, stated that he held the sky on his shoulders. This, an illusion also to Minoan architecture, with it's splendid pillars adorning it's palaces, which seemed to hold the sky on their shoulders. Thus, the myth of Atlantes had begun.

Quote:
Poseidon and Cleito has five pairs of male children. "And the eldest, who was the first king, he named Atlas, and after him the whole island and the ocean were called Atlantis."
- Plato, Critias 114b

Quote:
"In Greek, Atlantis and Atlantic are adjectival forms of Atlas, meaning '(the island) of Atlas' and 'the sea of Atlas' respectively....Now Atlas may once have been located well inside the Mediterranean before the gradual extension of Greek geographical knowledge pushed him to the west and located him on the High Atlas range in Morocco..."
- J. V. Luce, Lost Atlantis: New Light on an Old Legend (1969)

The Island of Atlas was the island of the great pilars, the seat of the Minoan empire.

Similarities Between Plato's Atlantis and Minoan Crete

Quote:
·"From an Egyptian point of view, [Plato's description of Atlantis] seemed...an apt descriptions of Crete: a gateway to the other Minoan island (the Cyclades) and the European continent beyond."
- Charles Pellegrino, Unearthing Atlantis (1991) p. 154

as Plato had stated:

Quote:
"Atlantis was the way to other islands and from these you might pass to the whole of the opposite continent."
- Plato, Timaeus, 24e

The Direction of the Conquest speaks of Minoan Crete and the Island of Theros

Quote:
·"For a civilization said to be coming out of the Atlantic, the pattern of conquest is strange, moving, according to Plato, from the eastern Mediterranean shores of Greece, Libya and Egypt to the rest of the Mediterranean - toward, not from, Gibraltar - with no mention of conquest in northern Spain or along the Atlantic shores of Africa. Plato has described a civilization radiating out of the eastern central Mediterranean, from the direction of Minoan Crete."
- Charles Pellegrino, Unearthing Atlantis (1991) p. 232

and has Plato stated:

Quote:
"...The island of Atlantis...had subjugated the parts of Libya within the Pillars of Hercules [Gibraltar] as far as Egypt, and Europe as far a Tyrrhenia [Italy]. This vast power, gathered into one, endeavored to subdue at a blow our country [Egypt] and yours [Greece], and the whole of the region within the straits [the Mediterranean]..."
- Plato, Timaeus, 24d

Both suffered earthquakes and volcanic eruption.

- Both Thera and Atlantis suffered severe earthquakes and a volcanic eruption. Of thera, 5 islets remained. Of Atlantis, remained only "small islets, only the bones of a wasted body".

Both maintained Highly developed cultures and cities

- Both were wealthy, highly developed cultures.

Both with the same type of bullfight - in Minoan

Both had the same type of bullfight or bull hunting. In the Minoan culture, this was the only example of this type of bull hunting in the world.

The same power and extent of influence

Both maintained the same region of power and influence, which radiated out from the Cretan Islands. Both had unsurpassed fleets of merchant ships.

Quote:
·"Atlantis was a powerful thalassocracy, and ruled areas 'larger than Asia and Libya', with 'the docks full of tiremes (a kind of ship) and naval stores...the largest of harbors were full of vessels and merchants coming from all parts.'

and on the Minoan civilization:

Quote:
The Minoan area of sea control and economic influence included all of North Africa, the Mediterranean and Asia Minor. Their fleet was unsurpassed in its size. Since all the countries in these areas were not even aware of each others existence, certainly strange and exaggerated tales could have begun to circulate about the size, scope and wonders of the Minoan civilization.

Identical Geography and Earth Colors/Typology

Both were rings of sea and land. Both had a water body around a mountain. In the case of Santorini (ancient Thera), geography demonstrates this lagoon originally existed and fits the description of the enclosed circular harbor around Atlantis.

- The geography and distinctive earth type and colors match in both cities.

Quote:
·"Plato speaks if the stone quarried from under Atlantis; 'one kind of stone was white, another black, and a third red'.

Quote:
The first sight of Thera that modern day tourists see is the sheer cliffs remaining when the rest of the island dropped into the sea, and these cliffs are a breathtaking mix of white, black and red stone. A unique sight in the Aegean world.

This again, too much coincidence. How many areas would have this type of soil and all other qualities matching? What are the probabilities that the two cities would have so many matching qualities, if they were distinctive places? The probabilities would be extremely low, and this indicates that the two, Santorini, and Atlantis are one and the same place.

Both had running water

Crete and Thera had a sophisticated system of running drinking water, with springs being brought up from under the earth and irrigating the city. Plato describes the same of Atlantis.

Size of Atlantis and Crete / Thera match. Both were located on a small hill about four stadia across.

The Size of Atlantis matches better Crete or Thera then the Libya/Asia sized continent that Plato described. The main palace of Atlantis, according to Plato, was located 50 stadia (less then half a mile) inland, on a low hill about four stadia across. The Minoam Palace of Knossos was located in the same position, halfway along the Northern coast of Crete, also on a low hill about four stadia across.

Both lost the art of writing for a while.

Around 1400-1200 BCE, the Mycenaean Greeks had a curious peculiar system of writing called "Linear B", which they had acquired from the Minoans. Being very peculiar, with similarities to the style of Japanese ideographs, and very different from the Greek language. When the palaces of the Mycenaean empire were destroyed, this writing system apparently disappeared with them as well.

The Classical Atlantis was formed as a remnant of the Minoam civilization which fled to Tunisia and settled in the Atlas Mountains. They became the classical Atlantes Greeks. Other remnants took their architecture with them to Palestine, influencing thus the architecture of the Mediterranean cost of Israel.

The fall of the Minoan civilization cannot be equated with the same time of the destruction of the Island, which occurred during the Mycenaen empire. But the fall of the Mycenean empire and her written system apparently happened during the event.

The island of "Atalanta" and the Island of Atlantis

Around the time of Plato there is a reference made to an Island called "Atalanta", which was destroyed by flooding and sinking after an earthquake in the Peloponesian war, Thucydides, when an Athenian Garrison was destroyed.

The same incident is mentioned in the Timaeus, when, in a single day, the island of Atlantis sunk and disappeared into the depths of the sea.

And on the Eruption at Thera itself we have:

http://www.mystae.com/restricted/streams/thera/thera.html

The eruption at Thera was much larger then Krakatoa, and occured around 1628 B.C.

The eruption at Thera caused a huge tiday wave and earthquakes that destroyed Knossos and floods that damaged areas in the northern coast of Crete. It apparently reached 800 feet in height, reaching thirty miles inland on the coast of Turkey. The city of Cyrbe was also swallowed up by a flood tide, most likely the same one.

The explosion at Thera was huge, blasting a thirty cubic mile hole in the earth, with debris and rocks flying as far as the Black Sea. It destroyed the great palace of Zakros 70 miles away on Eastern Crete. The direction of the blast was as a great wind which toppled the stones, sliding them horizontally along the ground in a great blast. Both Herculaneum and Zakros were destroyed in a flash. At in the same blast, Phaistos on the southeast coast was swept up as well in an instant. The blast apparently went directly East in the direction of Southern Turkey and the Islands of Kos, Rhodes and Cyprus and also in the direction of Egypt, casting as much as an inch of dust from the cloud rolling over Egypt.

As a final note, the Minoan empire truly did not fall completely with the destruction at Santorini, but began to decline with the rise of the Mycenean civilization around 1450 BC.

These, only a few of the very interesting facts which revolve around the tales of Atlantis.

First of all, congratulations on accumulating so many loose pieces of information, which will take me 6 months to sort out.

Second, you may be absolutely correct about Santorini, Crete, Thera.

Third: If the "headquarters" city of Atlantis is lost to a cataclysm, but the empire continent of Atlantis somewhere remains intact, what do the survivors do? I say rebuild the capital city of the empire somewhere else, in a safer location. And if that new city is lost, but the citizens still demand a capital city, I say they rebuild somewhere even safer.

So, fourth, in consequence of these many thoughts, I can easily narrow down the middle of the Atlantic as belonging to the "continent of Atlantis", or the "Atlantean theologic empire", but I can't narrow down the legendary CITY of Atlantic, not just yet, and maybe I'll never be able to in my lifetime. It may be a much-transplanted capital city, over 20,000 years.

Fifth: In my limited knowledge, a huge distraction to me is the association of Atlantis with the character of Atlas, and the Titans.

I say the Atlantean City preceded the Greek-Atlas myth by 8600 years, since the only historical record of Hercules and Atlas and the Greek Titans, is by the Olympian historians, which you give a date of 1100 BC, and I agree.

Now, I am leaning towards Atlas being "grandfathered" by the Osirian theology pantheon in history, and the Divisions and/or Regions of the World, of the Osirian theology, which are called "Aats", for example... Aat-Set-Te-chaus (Texas), Aztecas. The Kingdom of Set, Region of Osiris, Divine Chief.

Osiris himself had many names, one of which I believe was "Aut" - the twice great, and others were Sar, Asar, Sa Sar (Caesar).

Side notes:
Osiris had many roles, but if you want to call Osiris part of the most- ancient Sun God pantheon, it is interesting that the Egyptian term "A-ten" may show up parallel to the Osirian legends, meaning, the "One Ah-tee", the First and foremost God, the physical sun disk.

Now, also no surprise, the sun's rays, the actual light of the sun disk, I believe was A-T-los. And what was the role of light? It pushed the nighttime darkness up into the heavens, along with the arrival of the Sun Disk. Remember, you can have illumination without the physical sun disk (moon and stars, for example), and you can even have sunlight without seeing the sun disk (daybreak, sunset), they were two different entities. And in disastrous times, you may have a sky darkened and not showing any light at all... FOR YEARS, depending on the volcanic/atmospheric conditions. All of these things are possible.

As Osiris died along with his empire, decapitated and mutilated according to myth, and more probably due to the floods and earth cataclysms, I believe which obliterated his empire, his roles had to be replaced.

Therefore, surprise, surprise, here ALSO comes the myth of Osiris's son Te-Aut, Tehoti, the God (Te), of all Gods Ah-yah-te, which is "Divine Wisdom".

PS... do you know what the name for ancient wisdom was?

No-ah. As in "Know". As in "Knowledge". It is almost as if, Noah was a parable, not for the survival of a single family, but the survival of the sacred knowledge of the past, and only one tribe took the time and trouble to save two pieces of all knowledge, just before the cataclysm hit.

That tribe was the Teo-to-na-kas, Totonakas, the Teutonics, the Titans, i.e., Teotihuacan, the followers of Divine Knowledge, Sacred Geometry, Architecture, Metallurgy, Animal genetics and husbandry, plant genetics for food and medicines, even dabbling in static electricity experiments!!! And yes, they became the Templars via the Judaic prieshood of antiquity! Who eventually became the Masons, yes.

Ask yourself, how did the Incas and Mayas have 2500 varieties of potatoes, 600 of which only grow at altitudes above 6000 feet? Is that easy to do? How did the Egyptians have necklace beads so small, only a tweezer can pick them up, and yet they drilled holes in them?

Answer? They had 20,000 years to practice, and they passed on this sacred knowledge, only with the priestly class. Knowledge was POWER!

Education was God-li-ness. Education was POWER!!!

Knowledge. No-ah of God, Divine Chief. The Science of God was Knowledge.

The architecture of Atlantis was 10 double-temples, as in Tenocktitlan, probably dedicated to Horus and Set, and prior to them, Osiris and Set. At least 4 entire cities are buried in the mud of the Valley of Mexico, underneath the present city which sinks at the rate of 4 inches per year. I say this is the last resting place of "Atlantis", but not the first of legend.

Don't stop in your pursuits, I think you are providing a major, major resource for ideas.

On the conclusions, I can't buy in, just yet. Congratulations, certainly.

Thank you for the comments Ed.

Now, on the subject of ancient under-water city-scapes visible from satellite imaging sites:

Have you notice that on the coast of Lebanon in various locations, such as just Northeast of ancient Tyre, up to the area of the Islands and a little further North, are what to appear under-water ruins of an ancient city/cities, complete with footprints of buildings and streets? In the region of Tyre, it extends over a substantial area in the basin, starting from the North East closer corner to the island, slightly out to sea, stretching out to the small islets on the left and slightly North East of these remaining small islets. In some areas the appearances of streets and buildings remains more strikingly clear then others. And particularly, when an image of the area is regulated in brightness and contrast, so show the salient features of the image. This may be however a result of the data collection process of these satellite images, such as was the case for the supposed "Atlanta" find some time ago, which was later claimed to be a result of sonar readings. Interesting tricks these images can play on us. Just for fun, I created a full map of the area, and the resemblances to streets and buildings under-water is fascinating.

Interesting how satellite images give this effect - of what appear to be under-water constructions.

In fact, however, there are many under-water ruins around the area of Tyre.

Tyre was re-planted by Alexander the Great, who destroyed the mainland city and apparently removed a major retaining wall - a sea wall which had held the lower flat lowland area where the old city was located, which was then inundated. The old city was raised clean and the lowland flat area where the city once was, is now under the ocean. The present city was thus built on mainly the land sand bar bridge he had erected, and much of the original island, where the city once was, is under the ocean. On the island are Roman and Byzantine ruins as well.

The fact that these ruins remain under the ocean is confirmed in a few pieces of information:

"Looking down into the water one can see a mass of granite columns and stone blocks strewn over the sea bottom. Until recently the ruins of Tyre above water were few" (Nina Jidejian, "Tyre Through the Ages," Beirut: Dar El-Mashreq Publishers, 1969)

"The ruins of ancient Tyre are different from all the others--situated … in the heart of the sea" (Nina Nelson, "Your Guide to Lebanon", p. 220, London, 1965)

It’s astonishing that the submerged bronze age ruins found off the coast of Israel and Lebanon are not more studied by mainstream archaeologists, until you realize that the mere presence of them, off Akko and Atlit (Israel), and off Tyre, Sidon, Yarmuta, and Byblos (Lebanon), belies the main-streamers’ date for the end of the Ice Age (when the sea level rose) at circa 10000 B. C. The ruins include fallen marble columns, stone plazas and staircases, megalithic temples, and paved streets, not what scientists expect because such building didn’t begin until circa 2500 B. C., not before 10000 B. C., which is what their timeline dictates, so they ignore the ruins, to not have to deal with the implications of their obviously mistaken time line.

Roman and Phoenician ruins off the coast of Tyre

http://www.spyagent.eu/lebanon.htm

"You can explore Roman and Phoenician ruins off the coast of Saida (Sidon), Jbail (Byblos), or Sour (Tyre)."

A Jewish Traveler in 1170 A.D. spoke of the sunken ruins of Tyre:

"In approximately A.D. 1170, a Jewish traveler named Benjamin of Tudela published a diary of his travels. “Benjamin began his journey from Saragossa, around the year 1160 and over the course of thirteen years visited over 300 cities in a wide range of places including Greece, Syria, Palestine, Mesopotamia and Persia” (Benjamin of Tudela, n.d.). In his memoirs, a section is included concerning the city of Tyre.

Quote:
From Sidon it is half a day’s journey to Sarepta (Sarfend), which belongs to Sidon. Thence it is a half-day to New Tyre (Sur), which is a very fine city, with a harbor in its midst.... There is no harbor like this in the whole world. Tyre is a beautiful city.... In the vicinity is found sugar of a high class, for men plant it here, and people come from all lands to buy it. A man can ascend the walls of New Tyre and see ancient Tyre, which the sea has now covered, lying at a stone’s throw from the new city. And should one care to go forth by boat, one can see the castles, market-places, streets, and palaces in the bed of the sea (1907, emp. added.)

Salameh mapped the under water "Egyptian Port" site:

Quote:
Salameh announces plan to map underwater site
Tyre project will focus on ancient ‘Egyptian port’

Minister says that once a survey of the ancient ruins is complete, it will be accessible to the public via glass-bottomed boats

Mohammed Zaatari
Daily Star correspondent

Culture Minister Ghassan Salameh announced Thursday the start of an underwater excavation mission in Tyre which will focus on a site known as “the Egyptian port.”
The mission’s objective is to map out Tyre’s underwater port sites and promote area tourism.
Ministry-funded photographers and amateur divers have documented a large number of marble columns and stones lie on the sea floor, just off the city’s shores, in recent years.

Alexander re-located Tyre after destroying it:

Historical Studies and Recreations By Shoshee Chunder Dutt - page 503: "After treating Tyre with the greatest atrocity, Alexander rebuilt and replanted it, that future generations might regard him as the founder of a new city."
Encyclopedia Britannica (11th edition):

The most interesting part though is the ancient part of Tyre, and the connection of Tryre to a new city which has been discovered to be under the ocean North of Tyre.

Ancient Under-Water City Ruins discoverd by Mohammed Seraji

Quote:
Ancient Pharaonic city discovered 700 meters off Zahrani coast
Tuesday, March 27, 2001

Yarmota is a newly discovered city near Zahrani, some 700 meters off the coast between Tyre and Saida. The underwater ruins were discovered by Mohammed Seraji, head of Lebanon’s Divers Syndicate and historian Youssef Hawrani.
During a news conference on Tuesday, Seraji displayed underwater photos of the statues and valuable assets he discovered during his adventure which has lasted two years and taken him down to the watery site over 600 times. He said the city lies at a depth of three to 17 meters.
He explained that most probably the city was swallowed by the massive 7th century earthquake and subsequent flood which struck the whole Lebanese coast from Tripoli to Tyre.
OPTIONS
The southern city’s island fortress, which was eventually connected via causeway to the inland part of Tyre by Alexander the Great in the fourth century, held off the warlord’s advance for no less than seven months.
“The new city will change a lot of historic facts and provide answers to many questions that have confused scientists and historians for ages,” According to Hawrani.
The archeologist added that he knew about the existence of the city, as its name was engraved on many of the clay tablets found in the Egyptian archive of Tal al-Amarina.
Hawrani, however, opted for the better side of caution and decided not to announce the news until he witnessed himself the ruins of the old city.
“I urge the government,” Seraji said, "to deal very seriously with this find and to protect the many statues and monuments that are lying under the sea."

http://www.fortunecity.com/wembley/highfield/97/id133.htm

This under-water sunken city was apparently connected to the old island of Tyre by means of a causeway. It is located just 700 meters out in the ocean, and perhaps it can be found on satellite images as well?

Ras El-Ain Possible location of ancient Tyre?

All sources state:

Quote:
Ras el-Ain (6 Kilometers south of Tyre) has been Tyre's main source of water since Phoenician days. Its artesian wells gush up into stone reservoirs that have been maintained through the ages. One of the reservoirs fed the arched aqueducts of the Roman period that once that once stretched all the way to Tyre. Remains of these aqueducts can be seen along the Roman road running under the monumental arch on the necropolis at Area Three. A short stretch of the original aqueduct near the reservoirs continues to serve as part of Tyre's present day waterworks.

It makes sense that the area South of Tyre also could have been the site of a major part of the city, since the wells of water are located there.

My interest however, as noted above, is in the area North of Tyre and the archeological discoveries of under-water sunken cities in this region.

Justellus, I am sure that the continental shelf area off the coast of Tyre is rich in antiquities, and these are published, well known facts. Does it make me any happier that every spade of earth in Turkey, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Lybia, Greece holds twenty thousand years of antiquities, and we are simply overwhelmed about what to do about it. We can’t handle it.

What is lesser known, but also understood by academics around the world, is the proliferation of ancient human habitats on the ocean floors, and this area is no different. In fact, I think the entire area from Egypt to Greece/Turkey shows habitat indicators of roads, circular enclosed cities, squares, East/West, North South retaining causeways (mud/water control I assume) and the ususal facecliffs and portraits of Kings, facing South, not North.

So as an example, I took the area of Tyre, West into the Mediterranean, including Crete and Cyprus , and color manipulated it.

Then I took a major convergence point, extracted the more discernible face portrait (among many), and gave it your name. For the next 6 months, unless it has already been named, it is the King Justellus face portrait and convergence point. There are thousands of similar city/country structures, located on the floor in every ocean, visible today, and not yet “discovered” by anyone.
