Does anyone know of a software program where an existing floor plan can be scanned in as a basis and then used within the software? I find it hard to believe that this has not available, it seems such a natural application, but I have not been able to find any.

Thanks

Hi there,

I'm told that Corel Trace will do this.

In the DesignWorkshop 3D modeling software, a scanned floor plan, sketch or hardline, can be opened as a graphic on the "floor" of the 3D modeling space. You can build your architectural 3D model right on top of it.

The program Scan2Cad is also useful for this: this converts rasters to DXF.

Try Punch. Great software, good price, a nice user's forum and lots of resources. You can scan and trace your floorplan (and see it in 3D) or import the DXF plan, convert it and see it in 3D

Check these sites

Good luck
