Hi gal;

thanks to sonic sky for the nice links, however, i'm not that much familiar with vastu but i'll try to share my knowledge and if i missunderstood anything i'll be glad if someone would correct me.

first, you have to respect nature. The most important thing in vastu is how by respecting nature and the environment, your vastu design can bring good fortune and luck and peace to the place, whether its home, office. . .etc.

you have to place the 5 elements you mentioned in a grid that you make according to the size of the building and number of functions.
the simplest is 3x3 grid each orientation has a meaning (north, northeast ...etc)

at the same time, people have different charachteristics. an accordingly placing functions on the grid can effect in a good or bad way.

ex: placing the bedroom in east, for the user to wake up on sunshine can play a role in defining his mode for the rest of the day. . . etc
and different orientations can contribute in different ways for according to each person.

form is not as important as the function and how we can combine the elements. so in Vastu dont be surprised if you see sky light falling on the bed from the ceiling, or windows placed in odd corners or strange places.

If you found this useful tell me so i write more

thanx

well,

i'm not very familiar, but in general, the principles of harmony with nature, and also the use of material should be environmentaly friendly. water and greenery play an important role, and should be in some way connected to the building.

also if you remember the grid we mentioned, in many cases the central zone is occupied by an open courtyard representing air, for ventilation, and daylight and to be connected to most of the rooms.
n example is creating a small shelter for birds in this courtyard or different parts around the house, and you can predict any similar methods of creating a friendly built environment that respects nature and lives together with it Razz

try this site, i'm sure u'll find some good info:
www.vastukruti.com

it mentions the different kinds of energies that a vastu house can generate and make use of

if u r really interested in vastu .. i suggest u first understand the human body . its the best possible design . understand its relation with the nature ... the space around it .. the objects around it ... the ENERGY that influences the human body ... once u understand this ((( which may take u a lifetime ))) vastu is about interpreting the human body .

vastu is about giving life to a structure ...

well first of all i should mention that my knowledge of vaastu is very limited. and thus my question is:

IS VAASTU GUIDELINES (... not the interpretation of human body) WORKS CLIMATICALLY FOR THE COLD PLACES???
