Jill,
In simplest terms your house style is Modern. You might call it a Case Study type . Which was a series of modern houses commissioned by Art and Architecture magazine to showcase Modern style houses. Check out House #6 and #24. You might see some similar features to your house.
The architects could have also be inspired by Eichler Homes in Northern California. Eichler was a builder who built production homes, but in the Modern style.
Furniture typically used in your style of house would have been the Saarinen or Eames (Herman Miller and Knoll were the two big suppliers of Modern furniture in the 50's-60's) Check out www.dwr.com.
Hows the interior? Is it original or has it been brutalized by unsympathetic owners? You might like to get a copy of Eichler Homes: Design for Living . Lots of photos of renovated Eichler homes with more current materials, but keeping to the Modern style. I would think your library has a copy.
