Do these 'features' bug you as much as they bug me?

-- If I open a PowerCADD document for reference and change the sheet to a different view than the one previously saved, PowerCADD incessantly interrogates me "Do you want to save the document?" I have my 'annoy me to save the document' set to 8 minutes. There are many times that I want to refer to a drawing, BUT NOT MODIFY IT. and I want to keep it open without being nagged. PowerCADD should a) take my word for it the first time and desist with the save interrogation when no drawing elements have been altered, or b) figure out how to automatically save the way a database program does, or c) give me the option in the nag-bitch dialog that says 'STFU and don't save'

-- If, for some reason only known to Cluthu or Beelzebub, we get drawings that use fonts with different names on different machines, when opening said documents on machines that lack the font, PowerCADD interrogates me for the name of the substitute font. It would be absolutely brilliant, in my opinion, if PowerEffingCADD would REMEMBER the %$#**@ answers that I gave it. It is frustrating to open 9 documents and have to respond to the same prompt for three missing fonts nine times EVERY time, substituting Gill Sans Regular for Gill Sans Standard (27 dialogs) -- or -- (drum roll) how about the option in the dialog that says: Permanently update font changes and never see this dialog again? (cymbals!) (ps: It's a polluted reference file, but I have no earthly way of determining which one.)

-- I'm puzzled why the arrow keys do not navigate text in the text window consistently. Sometimes the down arrow will step through the text to the end, other times it won't. Same thing for the right arrow. and shift+arrow. Is it unreasonable to expect rudimentary text selection to be a solved issue in version 8 software?

-- When importing .dwg files, would it be most excellent to be able to bring in the whole file at one go, and have each viewport come in as a sheet setup?

-- I also wish I could map the caps lock key to the shift key, so that PowerCADD interprets holding down caps lock in the same way it interprets holding down the shift key when doing drawing operations. All these years using the program and I still have that problem.

There, now I don't need coffee.

1. EVERYDAY. But what's the option? Probably a "Don't warn me on this file again this session" button.
2. Not a problem in v.6, it's always "Times".
3.Still not fixed since v. 6? (Probably worked in the best CAD ever. v.4.)
4. At least .dwg import has improvements to show.
5. Must have a hardware solution. My pinkie is hardwired to hold the key down half the time. Recently, making long multiple selections fails partway through ("Doh!"). Will not select or de-select more. Is the keyboard wearing out?

Regarding the Save prompt, you could always uncheck it Wink

As to the fonts ----

What about Engineered Software having an embedded font feature or option as with PDF's?

For that matter, why wouldn't OpenDWG® add an embedded font feature or option into their reverse engineered DWG format?

The first thing that I did when ES added the save prompt (a long time ago) is uncheck it. I found it quite annoying. I am in the habit of hitting command S every minute or so, and (so far) haven't had a problem with forgetting to save a file. To me, hitting command S has been second nature, like a carriage return on a typewriter.

I'd rather have the option to check a box that says "Save without asking in the background"

I have had an issue with this since I first started using PowerCadd. In fact, there are major threads about this, including, I believe, a user poll, some time ago.

Matt, the problem with your suggestion, I think, is that as soon as the file becomes active, it will trigger the save prompt.

Instead, how about a menu command, "Open without save prompt" (or something to that effect). In this situation I would envision PC never prompting the files opened using this command. I think this would be the most flexible for users.

It seems to me that the options should be:

-- act like a database, dispense with 'saving' needing to be at the users direction.
or
-- open a file read-only.
