Also how does anyone know that I am not just thinking aloud? Why is it OK for you to give your views independent of my right to respond but you can respond to me?
Is there some book of rules for discussion I have missed? How can you determine that your responses are all correct and mine are not? _________________ Chris Stewart

From my own perspective, it was exactly your right to think aloud that I was referring to. I was at pains not to hold you, or anyone else, to account; not suggest that we all had to be experts in any given area before being free to ask about it or suggest a point of view on it. You and I live in the free world and long may it remain so.
All I'm saying is that the forum format and, indeed, the discussion format have their limits, evidenced in the 'going round in circles' nature of many of these threads. A potential way of expanding these limits is simply to acquire some additional expertise which, though it may seem to be an undemocratic and unfashionable notion, also happens to be true.
You'll notice that I haven't disappeared off to read up on Feng Shui or the like myself, either. I, too, am merely thinking aloud here |

For the past....mmmmtnth months (has it been years?)...Chris always, always somehow or another ends bringing any and all topics back to the same discussion about how to discuss. Is that a coincidence? Not!
What was the darn subject again...??? Anyone? LOL!!!

I didn't bring it back solidred did.
You will notice that it was not in this discussion until solidred's post 5 or so posts ago. I simply responded to his post.
I realize that the nature of any forum populated by a limited group of people and established on a limited area of interest is likely to have repetitive discussion. Although I would argue that new information may be learned at any time. By leaving a discussion open and ongoing this allows us the mechanism by which new ideas are introduced. I think this is illustrated as being fact by the evidence within these discussions.
In other words I see new ideas being introduced and new variations on the same theme and it is this resultant discussion which stimulates us to find out more. In fact I did more reading on physics than I have in a long time because of the discussion about the nature of the universe.
Also I was able to formulate a very simple example of the relationship between gravity, entropy and the universe that I was quite pleased with. _________________ Chris Stewart

Ah, the good ole' "I didn't start it" gambit
But I must say I'll give credit to Chris for actually responding coherently to other's comments, demonstrating that he has an informed opinion on most things and allowing other participants to have a point of view without resorting to personal insults and put-me-downs.
(At this point, if true to form, Chris would take this as a personal insult and challenge me to another fight outside the school gates ) |

Are designers famous for this or what? One not need to look very far to see what is really going on in these online communities.
