Did the American media report Putin's statement that an attack on Iran would be viewed as an attack on Russia ?
Yes.
What Bush (or Condi, or Elliot Abrams) tells Israel to do is as meaningless as Putin's statement, above -- isn't it ? |

I agree with you that taking anything that politicians say now is becoming difficult - but do not underestimate Putin.
an attack on Iran has to be nuclear. What precisely do you think will happen if the US/Israel/Britain and now shamefully France do commit such a massive act of terror ?
it was Einstein who said that if the next war was fought with nuclear weapons, then the one after would be fought with bows and arrows. However I predict that after an unprovoked nuclear attack, there will be simple revolt - and we will live in well-deserved fear.

Yes, Rich, Putin may have saved the world, that is my opinion.
Lets not forget the missle system we tried to install in corn fields in the Eastern border with the new Russia. Is that the Gringo way to "win friends and influence people"?
Or selling nuclear energy technology to India?
Or F16s to Pakistan?
We just find new ways to pull people's chain, and pull their chain, and pretty soon the tiger jumps out of its cage and runs down its tormentors?
Thank you Mr. Putin! _________________ Ed Ziomek |

has to be nuclear (according to most reports and opinions) because ....
if Israel launches an attack they have comparatively little materiel to do it. A conventional attack would not achieve its alleged intention. Therefore it would have to include nuclear weaponry. (The earth-penetrating weapon: EPW type of bunker buster is nuclear).
if the US, then there is of course no possibility of launching a ground attack and the use of conventional missiles and bombs would again stand little chance of destroying the deep/hardened installations.
the current "talk" is of battlefield nuclear weapons which are pretended to cause little 'collateral damage'.
ironically it may be the very talk which itself has put a stop to the attack. The USAF and others do contain those who simply will not take part in such a monstrosity. (The story of the nuclear weapons that went walkabout in the US has some strange features).
the explanation for using nukes is the idea that everybody will be so terrified that they will all surrender immediately (no kidding - that is the Neo-Con view). _________________ Richard Haut has worked with the architectural profession for over 25 years and produces the weekly Richard Haut's Competitions, which has given architects details of many thousands of projects for which they can apply across Britain and Europe. |

The Neos would so dearly love to return to the days of the Cold War, where detente actually seemed to work. Don't conservatives of almost every stripe always live in the past ?
Note the large arms sales just completed to both Saudi Arabia and Israel -- along with that swaggering and butt-kissing (simultaneously !) visit by Bushco.

I agree: there was lots of money to be made (and virtually no risk) in the Cold War.
unfortunately Bush attacked Iraq - so when he uses the same lies in trying build up hatred for Iran, the conclusion has to be not that he 'might' attack, but that he intends to. _________________ Richard Haut has worked with the architectural profession for over 25 years and produces the weekly Richard Haut's Competitions, which has given architects details of many thousands of projects for which they can apply across Britain and Europe. |

Honestly, I don't think it's going to happen. The question to ask is, what would it do for Dick Cheney ? Win the Republicans the next election ? What if it blows up in their face, before the election ? Unless they're really nuts (not an impossibility, of course) I don't think they'll risk it. They still like to rattle sabers. The Iraq debacle is just that and they know it, despite their (necessary and inevitable) denials. . .

Antithenes...you are too right. We are all Katrinized, aren't we?
900+ lies. Selling nuke secrets. 500,000 dead. Trillion dollars down.
And the same time you wrote your message, Palestinians in Gaza were blowing up walls into Egypt... to buy food! Yes, they are being starved, I guess, ...sure makes me proud???
I have to guess that Bush is waking up thinking..."What the HELL have I done?"
Empires come and go, but I am ready to fight to keep this one going, as it was born to be.
What can you do? Just exactly what you are doing. Have the courage to ask the questions... "What the hell is going on?"
So I have some happy pills for your ears...where American rebellion and culture still survives...

it has given rise to a new expression: "outrage fatigue".
it is everywhere - in Britain a 'serious' discussion about how it is OK to Taser kids, but is it OK to Taser pregnant women. In Britain ?
even in the polite and quiet town of Menton near here a disabled elderly man was subjected to "happy slapping" (thugs beating him up and filming it on their mobiles). The man was found dead in the street a few days later.
I have been re-reading that extraordinary book "Papillon" about the prisoner on Devil's Island. The similarity between the notions behind Devil's Island and Guantanamo are striking. The difference is the clearly stated anger from countries like Britain and Portugal that a country like France should operate such an inhuman institution. (The author has some very nasty things to say about the architects who designed the inhuman facilities at Devil's Island).
what is going on ? if - as rumoured - OPEC stops using the Dollar, then we will find out - and it will be rough.
a sign of what is behind it comes from, of all places, the Lord of the Rings. The Tolkein trust - which was set up by the author's family - has had no alternative but to sue the part of Time Warner that took the film rights. They say that Time Warner has not paid "one single penny" of the agreement under which the blockbuster films were made.
as the Israeli government lets yet more public contracts for building yet more hundreds of houses on stolen land, remember that a-thief-is-a-thief-is-a-thief.
good luck with your election - just try and find an honest candidate. That is all. Honest. Black - white - woman - man - Rep - Dem: honest. Just like the vast majority of ordinary Americans: honest. _________________ Richard Haut has worked with the architectural profession for over 25 years and produces the weekly Richard Haut's Competitions, which has given architects details of many thousands of projects for which they can apply across Britain and Europe. |
