Great topic in fact housing and suburbia comes to mind when it comes to Halloween. The images that both Hollywood and amusement parks deliver on haunted houses are deepseeded in our collective memory. Disney's haunted mansion, myrtle beach's haunted themed rides allow us to participate in spaces designed for horror. When it comes to Hollywood the Amytiville horror, Poltergeist, Halloween the movie and in more rural landscapes Friday the 13th (jason) portray the idea.
Oh what a fun thread. Haunted houses seem to have in common weedy lawns, basements that are portals to other worlds and lot's of electric problems. Unless of course you live in Cuesta Verde's housing complex. Cuesta Verde was the name of the suburban area where Heather O'Rourque played Carol Ann a young girl that got swaped by their parents TV and of course they where kicked out by zombies underneath their house. Other than that most settings are the typical Amytiville. Houses with outdated electrical switch boards, squeeky door knobs and terrible plumbing.
When it comes to Disney, nothing can deliver a better experience of the supernatural than the haunted mansion. A marvel of mechanical engineering and set design that allows people to enter the bubble of horror full of fake caskets and corpsy cyborgs than aim to scare us to death.
a must see

It was one of the coldes october days i'd had in Setubal, and suddenly just after dark, there were a bunch of kids yelling (more so than usual) down in the plaza. Ignoring it at first, it only grew louder. Finally we went to the balcony and saw five or six rugrats with big shirts and one had a box. Being new to Portuguese I had no idea what they were saying, so MP was good enough to translate for me..."Give us Candy" they shouted. At first I didn't understand, until it hit me...these guys are "trick-or-treating"...holy sh!t _________________ lacerda gafner, arquitectos
