I'm a new user with a problem: PowerCADD won't recognize my printer. When I go to select my printer from the Page Setup box, I'm prompted to edit my printer list. Print Center opens, & there's my printer (HP deskjet 3420), I highlight it, close Print Center, but it still doesn't show up. Same thing happens in the Print dialog box. Other applications recognize the printer, so I know everything is ok on that end.
Any ideas on what to do about this?
Thanks. |

Steve,
Try the 'brute force' method: delete the printer. Empty the trash. Log out. Log in. Reinstall the printer.
Sometimes this is easier than trying to figure out what caused the problem. Hard to see how this is a PC problem, though.

Well, I tried all that, a couple of times, & still nothing. Every other app recognizes the printer, but PC won't.
I can work around it by saving the file as a PDF, and printing that, but I don't think that will allow me to print drawings to scale.
Any other suggestions out there?
Thanks. |

You might start out by giving us a complete description of what you run.
I had this porblem with X-rip and my Mac recognizing the plotter because I made a mistake in assigning the proper port for the printer during the setup process. _________________ John Cruet

OK, let's see: iBook G3 800Mhz, 640 MB Ram, OSX 10.2.8. Printer is an HP Deskjet 3420, PowerCADD 6.1.1.
Does that help?

When you go to print the PDF from Adobe Reader or Preview, just make sure you're printing on the right size paper (which you set up in Page Setup when you created the PDF) and uncheck any "resize to fit on page" boxes. There should be no scale problems, then. |

| You could try deleting the whole Powercadd folder from Applications and reinstalling Powercadd to see if this fixes the problem. We have found this has cured unrelated problems on some machines. Another thing to try would be logging in as another user to see if the problem persists or is specific to your account (create a temporary new account if necessary and delete after the test if it proves fruitless). |
