Architecture for Humanity has a web site

http://www.architectureforhumanity.org/__Sumatra.htm

where you can donate to a rebuilding effort for countries affected by the tsunami Dec. 26, 2004.

It is a 501 3(c) not-for-profit corporation in the USA. Contributions are tax deductible in the USA.

I have no connections with this site. I have not checked out their track record.

This seems like a good idea. Check it out for yourself.

Yes this seems like a good idea. You should also be reminded to verify that donations to any organization goes towards the cause and is directed to those really in need. Americans are stepping forward as never before in the wake of this tsunami disaster in Asia, and desperate to get aid to the key areas. Its now being reported that more money will be donated by private American citizens to the relief effort than will be spent by our government . So as a caution, just make sure your donations don't go to organizations affiliated with the United Nations, especially after it tucked-tail and ran from Iraq, and also from the results of the Oil-for-Food scandal Sad

Habitat for Humanity International supports the building of Partner Family homes with volunteer labor. Partner Families put in hundreds of hours of "Sweat Equity" in building their own homes. Partner Families pay for the materials used to build their own homes with a no-interest mortgage.

The current housing crisis in the areas affected by the December 26, 2004, tsunami requires a world-wide effort to help the survivors recover.

Anyone who wants to help with this effort can view the Habitat for Humanity page that includes a link to donate funds.

Yes this is the greatest disaster we have ever seen in our life times. Habitat for Humanity International is one of many on the ground and working towards the cause. As the tsunami tragedy continues to unfold and Americans are showing their compassion and generosity as contributions continue to pour in to various agencies, as a reminder, again, please keep your donations away from the United Nations.

Three reasons:
1. The United Nations is corrupt. Please remember the billions of dollars siphoned away from the women and children of Iraq by corrupt UN officials. What have you seen lately to make you believe things have improved?

2. The United Nations is basically anti-American. It is and it always has been. Why work hard and then donate your money to the victims of the tsunami only to have that money distributed in the name of the United Nations rather than the name of your country?

3. There are plenty of American charitable organizations who do perfectly wonderful things with your donations. These include AmeriCares and The American Red Cross.

The United Nations is the enemy of American sovereignty. It makes no sense to enable your enemies and make them stronger.

Wonder how much of your donation is going to charity and how much is going to administrative costs? Check out your favorite charity at http://give.org/
