Here is some advice regarding request -

You are getting too hung up on formal language and focusing on the details. Step back some and focus on the general problem, then keep you eyes focused on the big picture. Once this is set in concrete, you can fill in the details.

Many of us designers have this problem of focusing on the details and loosing sight of the big picture. It takes some discipline for those who are very meticulous to push themselves away from the details and train their mind to focus on the big picture. Your mind will keep going back to the details, and you need a series of exercises over a long period of time to train your mind to focus on the big picture first and stick with it. When you find yourself going back to the details, pinch yourself and get back to the big picture. Keep asking yourself what your focus is, in each stage, until you are sure you are focused on the big picture only, for an extended period of time. You mind will continue going back to the details, as a man with a vice of cigars, so you need to free yourself from this habit until your design has reached a successful solution for the entire urban space. Once the general concept is set, and you have expressed it well in a great overall design, you can come back later and fill in the benches, the planters, the side-walks, the fountains, the trees, the grass areas, kiosk, vending areas or any other element desired. No use on focusing on these elements to the extent that you loose yourself and your entire concept becomes dis-jointed.

Hopes this helps some.
