I hope PC 8 handles better the color than PC6/7 ....
In ALL the other Mac OS X software I use, I set up colors that match always the same, but in PC, it changes them !
here an exemple with a green :
The original color
The color I get in PC

PowerCADD has never been a color managed application like Photoshop, but then, most other applications aren't either (Word, Excel, almost anything outside of graphic design). Has that changed at all? _________________ Rob

it is not a question of being or not a color handling, it is a question to respect the color being chosen. If a simple application like TextEdit can do it, why not PowerCADD ??
It is a feature of the system, so why PowerCADD will systematically change the settings when selecting a color from the system color picker ???
It is the only one application on my mac having such a behavior !
Even Excel or Word like you mention doesn't have this problem !
If i create a new color from the preferences not available in their color picker, it EXACTLY matches the original one.
And maybe it is not a color handling application, but it is at least a graphic software ! |

I played around a little bit with this.
I used the HSB color picker to make a color in Pages, and the HSB color picker to make a color in PowerCADD 6.
I tried to use the same values in each color picker.
PowerCADD wouldn't let me match the values I punched into the color picker in Pages, at least with regard to the one example below.
In Pages '08 ver. 3.0.2, I punched in 94 for Hue, 100 for Saturation, and 97 for Brightness.
I tried to punch in the same values in PowerCADD 6.0.8.. PowerCADD would NOT let me do it. After punching in 94, 100, 97, and then hitting the OK button, then opening the color picker back up to see what color the rectangle fill was, I found that PowerCADD had changed my input to 90, 81, 95.
Is this a Gamut thing? Is the color palette in PC6 limited to a lesser number of colors available, compared to the amount of colors available in Pages?
By the way, I'm using OS X 10.5.2.. I was told that this poses problems for PC6. So maybe this has something to do with it ???

I use PC6 in OS X 10.4.
I will check with the demo of PC7.
Anyway you get the same as me, I don't use HSB but RGB, but never minds, the result does the same, the values are completely different.
EDIT : I tried with the demo of PC7 and it comes from PC6.
The problem looks to have been solved in v7. |
